That's because in that case the whip is handling both AM and FM reception (never understood how that works), we don't know yet if the E1's whip will operate that way though. If not, you could get a Jensen amplified AM/FM antenna. Not sure how much it costs or if it's still being made, I bought mine some time ago at Wal-Mart. It sorta' looks like a black rendering of Washington Monument with a small knob near the bottom to adjust the amp and a green LED letting you know that the amp is on. The AM lead-in on this thing connects via two lugs which can be lopped off with a wire stripper if necessary. The FM lead-in is a 75-ohm coax connector with a supplied matching transformer. |
