How many people frequent this group actually don't have a radio? We
all know Honkus does not have a radio but who else does not and what
are they going to get if they get one?

In my position you gotta do what you can to get turned on But in regards

To kill the horse flys, of course, of course! ;-)

I have a NC-183R rack mount version that needs a complete restoration
after someone did a nasty re-cap job with bundles of caps taped together
and hanging off the chassis with wads of wire. I am waiting till I get
a better digital camera to take lots of closeup photos so that anyone
who wants to restore one can have a complete set of photos to follow.

http://home.earthlink.net/~mike.terrell/Projects.html has some of my
restoration projects listed. As they begin to show signs of progress
they will each have a page of photos to show the before and after, and
some will have the test results ahter a full alignment.

Geez Mike, That's a helluva to do list. It looks like what the wife
has waiting for me every weekend.

Tracy, I never planned to fully retire. If I was forced to retire, I
planned on repairing and selling collectable electronics. As you know,
I ended up on disability instead of retirement but I still enjoy
restoring old radios, or doing simple repairs.

I am trying to get a loan to put a new roof on my 1200 square foot
garage so I can spend more time on my electronics projects. Have you
seen the 2" thick foam insulated roof panels they use for sun rooms? I
would like to do the new roof with them. They are available in a 30
foot panel four foot wide, so I would need 10 of them to replace the
crappy old "Pittsburgh" metal roof.

The other shop (where the machine tools are) is 18 * 28 so that would
be seven 20 foot panels. If the stuff wasn't so expensive, I would like
to replace the steel skin on the buildings with the new insulated panels
so they could be air conditioned. The isles are wide enough to get
through with my cane, or if worse comes to worse, a wheelchair.

There are two other work buildings as well. A 12' * 12' where I store
things that need work, and a 12' * 24' cottage I use for a computer room
and to do my computer project.

BTW, how was the vacation?

That gear train is just amazing to me. That alone makes one worth
having. Thay are getting rather pricey though.

That is why it would have to be a project radio, rather than one that
has already been rebuilt.

A TV without a picture tube, of course.
