Lucky wrote: Owners, please tell me how much I'm going to like it. My portable now is the Degen 1103. Lucky I'm sure that you will find it to be a fine performing radio that will allow you to hear much the same stations you found on the DE1103. I was fortunate enough to own the original model from that long running series, the ICF2002 and that radio gave me many years of enjoyment. Indeed the up/down tuning buttons finally died from overuse. Most radios have at least one wart and the only shortcoming of the 7600 that comes to mind is tuning with up/down buttons. They are not as effective as a simple tuning knob for the start/stop/back/forward tuning many of us do. As with the single row frequency entry keys of the DE1103 one can learn to use tuning buttons on the 7600. Gee, thanks John You fed my hunger for more info. I love it. The best of health and a superb New Year to you and the family. Lucky Same best wishes to you and yours Lucky. And please consider putting your thoughts about both radios into a side-by-side comparison. John OK I will, I will I did somewhat of a comparison in the Eton E1 review under the name of "Luckydaze" if you care to read it. You have to scroll down to find it. http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/5353 Lucky Good review of the E1. I was surprised to learn that it didn't use a ferrite rod antenna for MW. Does the whip give any directionality? Thanks John, I'm glad you liked it. Yes, the whip does give it some degree of directionality depending on the signal. Yes, many flipped out when they read it had no ferrite rod built in. Many didn't buy one due to that. But here in Florida I don't notice the loss. But just set it horizontally all the way and it does it's job. I like the radio plus the potential for getting XM sat radio one day. Lucky Thanks Lucky. The DE1103 does a pretty decent job of nulling interfering stations and catching nighttime MW dx stations. Would the E1 provide that level of MW performance? |
