THE TRICK IS TO CALL CQ NEARBY A BUSY FREQ AND LET THE OTHER GUY SWING A FEW KC UP SO YOU CAN CHEW THE RAG IN THE CLEAR. That ONLY works if he has a lousy receiver. A decent receiver is not going to hear a signal that is 500 to 1000 Hz away. Your idea that guys on 7040 are going to listen for a signal 5 kHz away might have been a good suggestion 40 years ago, but not today. It ain't happening. The way ARRL is headed, CW and AM will be illegal in five or ten years anyway! Wolf |
