Well, I'll be pulling my Hallicrafters HA-1 TO

keyer out of the attic.

Ain't much slang at 40 words per minute cw

Which is legal anywhere in the ham bands

(with the appropriate license) other than 60

meters. )

And the am kilowatt stations never could

bother my 75 watts on cw then, and they

couldn't touch 100 watts of cw now. ))

They tried - and failed.

Best regards from Rochester, NY

Jim

Chances are those who tried were nocodes. Upper classmen in the hammie
field KNOW they can't touch it and wouldn't try something
so.....nocode-ish.

Hello, Twist

Actually, the guy who tried and failed was a known troublemaker and was a
class A operator. This was back in the 60s and he had an advanced ticket
that may have no longer been issued. They did have extra classes then, but
no one paid attention to it. Once you had the general, you had everything.

When they were going to implement "incentive licensing", I went for my extra
and, as long as I had to be at the FCC, I obtained my telegraph ticket too.

Not a big deal about cw. If one likes it, great; if not, so be it. But it
is so much fun to get into these threads ))

I love the way you say something in a nice way that gets some folks panties
all knotted up - then you go fishing for a weekend (or a week) whilst the
group flames away.

Dang, I've gotta buy some stock in blood pressure medication when you send
some notes. It is funny. Just like Mike got so hot about me enjoying
communicating, some folks just can't stand the fact that you remain in the
newsgroup.

All together now, "AKC does *not* own anything".

Hey, how's the price of gas down in your neck of the woods? Has Bush gotten
it back down to $1.25 per gallon? Or have the "red" states suffered along
with the "blue"?

I was wrong about Bush in one respect. It irritated me that the only plane
allowed to fly out of this country immediately after 911 was relatives of
Bin Laden. I *almost* thought the way Farenheit 911 was portraying it, but
then managed to think.

If you or I were president at that time and we imported 80% of all our oil
and Saudi Arabia supplied most of the oil .... what would we do? Most
likely just what Bush did. They have us by the unmentionables.

We've got them right where they want us.

Better give more tax breaks on the SUVs. Better include yachts over 33
meters in length too.

What, me worry?

Yeah, I heard that. Senator Clinton should try and fix New York. I've news
for ya. We've a *republican* governor and Clinton was elected to represent
us in Washington, not in New York. There is a New York Senate. She in not
in the NY Senate. She is a New York Congressman (uh, person?) in
*Washington*.

Of course, facts never bother the religious right.

Don't confuse me with facts LOL.

Excuse me whilst I get a second beer. I limit myself to 3 beers per day,
maximum. I have to shut down as those dang quarter kegs are a pain to move
around in the house ))

Best regards from Rochester, NY

Anger?

You fail to see satire and irony when you read it, you don't recognize
"dry humor?"...

.... you really think I take you as anything more than the silliest of
jokes?

Common guy (or girl, or it), sit down the opium pipe and step away
into the light...

You know nothing of debate, as your posts attest. They are made in
haste
and anger. Your insults should be left at the door. Of course, people
in
college familiar with debate already know this.

Not to be confused with the actual A$$'s here,

Right on cue. Thank you for the brilliance shared.

Anger?

Absolutely. When you introduced personal insult as a means to convey
your feelings, it was a knee-jerk response to feelings of anger or low
self-esteem. Have it your way, it's the latter, then. By the time (if)
you finish this college you felt impotant enough to invoke, you will
learn such things. Insult has no place in debate. Next time, know a
little more of your subject before you slap yourself for other's
benefit.

You fail to see satire and irony when you read

it, you don't recognize "dry humor?"...

Satire is not laced with direct insult, nor is dry humor. Your first
claim that you knew something of debate embarrassed you and you were
pardoned when you demonstrated ignorance arrived by your insult. Fine.
Tits up for you topping that with your incorrect interpretations of
satire and dry humor. Satirists don't directly insult, as they have no
need. They understand the subtle implications of their work and the
generally educated public can correctly infer such from their work. But
you, man, you brilliantly demonstrated not only a most unsound
description, but a through misinterpretation of both satire -and-
debate.

... you really think I take you as anything more

than the silliest of jokes?

That is exactly what you did by attempting to invoke -your- college. You
did so in a most serious attempt, but since you totally embarrassed
yourself with such a failed example, you now wish to claim it a joke.
Agreed. With such an example of debate from you, a joke is what the
educated interpret such as.

Common guy (or girl, or it), sit down the opium
pipe and step away into the light...

John

So out of anger or low self-esteem, you have demonstrated and chosen an
unhealthy preoccupation for speaking of both drugs and this mother
complex you brought to the group. Please try and understand that your
needs can be better met by someone who cares for you.

Awful, isn't it? Dang, I had just seen a horrible gunfight. I had the jpg,
but sent it to Mopar as I couldn't handle it. It was interesting. You can
ask Mopar for the thing or I can ask him to send it back so I can send it to
you, but it was really horrific. Not something to show to women.
