Perhaps. Let's be honest; ham radio spectrum benefits fewer than
500,000 active hams at any given time (my estimate and probably
wildly optimistic). Unlicensed 2.4GHz users alone (meaning
cordless phones and 802.11) are probably 50x that at any given
instant.

I'm not suggesting that we should just give up ham radio
spectrum, but I am objectively observing that we're getting
far, far more value than we seem to recognize. It's like
having half of the national forests set aside for the use
of less than 1% of the population.
