Hmmm.
They should take the word "Radio" out of the name of the stores. The store name should be "Shack." Sounds appropriate to me. Cheers, Al Link K4ICL wrote in message ... - it looks like amateur radio is now officially dead at Radio Shack - the company no longer lists any transceivers, and appears to have dropped its only HT from the on-line catalog - there are still some accessories for sale, but all seem to be third-party - it looks like the sell-off (which began several years ago) is now complete: no HTs, no mobile VHF/HF units, and no more amateur radios - but you can get your NASCAR scanner, belt accessories and headphones! (and a cellphone and satellite TV service) whoo hoo! :P |

On the other hand, maybe they're simply cleaning out stock for the publication of their next catalog... Bob k5qwg The story given by emplyees here is that they have dropped all HAM band equipment and have no plans to get any more. Most of it was relabeled Japanese gear anyway, so why not go to HRO or one of the other mail order shops for it. I actually buy most of my equipment at hamfests. With six per year within an hour's drive, I get quite a good selection. I hang on to business cards from the displays in case I need something in between. It helps to keep the better dealers interested in the 'fests. Bob McConnell N2SPP |

I went in there the other day looking for caps, resistors, and an
IC555 for my oscillator. I was standing at the bins looking for the IC when the sales guy approached me. I asked him where they are hiding the IC's and he said he didn't know but could get me a great deal on a cell phone. I eventually found one and that is all I really need from rs |

Electronics is pretty much officially dead at
Radio Shack. They are pretty much limited to consumer appliances and toys. |
