We have two Hams in our Troop, and we have thought about doing the JOTA in October, along with dragging a rig to our indoor/cabin camping weekends, and something during good weather. Also, what would be a good rig to drag out to these camping events.... A decade or two ago Hams from Western KY took their rigs to Council campouts on a regular basis. I have no records of how many actually got their license. Some years ago Scouts troops in the vicinity were invited to view and participate in the Annual ARRL Field Day. I never saw the outing tutn out to be a flop. But it might help to have a demonstraton or two to peak their interest. Hugh WA4QZU |
