Default Yaesu VX-1 battery needed!

My Yaesu VX-1 here has a totally dead FNB-52Li Lithium Ion 3.6V
700mAh battery. Any one have that clever single AA cell booster insert
to hand instead - although lower Tx power this would be all that's
needed. Alternatively any bright ideas on a repack of the Li battery
appreciated. I'm pretty skilled & the VX-1 is otherwise wasted just
tethered to a mains supply- I might as well sell it if restricted to
PSU indoors, & a bigger more ergonomic set preferred anyway.

are even running a special on it right now. You would have to check

Thanks guys for those pointers- but at US$25 (+ o'seas p&p) the cost
would come to almost as much as the radio is worth now! These sets went
for ~ US$100 during their close out ~ 2001, & 2nd hand ones are now
reputed to go for ~US$50. Stan-ZL2AJZ

If the rig was worth $100 new and $50 now why isn't it worth $25 to fix it??

It'll cost more than US$25 to fix it, since being down here in NZ p&p
will push the battery to more like $40 by the time it arrives. Believe
me- freight can be SUPER COSTLY. Some dirt cheap DIP8 ICs just sent
here from UK had US$20 postage on them...

The request is surely not an isolated one, since it transpires many of
those Yaesu VX-1 Li batteries die after ~3-4 years. As mentioned
earlier I've considered assorted battery hacks/cell repacks for the set
but wondered if this had already been tamed by others. Stan ZL2AJZ
