Hi everyone,
I have come across mention on the web of 10m handheld rigs much like the one
you get for CB, the names Alan and Albrecht come to mind.
They sound interesting, doers anyone know anything about such handhelds
Are they FM & SSB or just FM.
Were they just 10m HAM or CB also?
Were they any good?
Where can tyhey be gottten? I have searched the web and apart from a few
amateur home pages, I have not come across anyone selling them.

Any information?

they do or did eixst I have one I used for driving tranverters to VHF

not able to find any of them now but mine had am usb lsb and FM

There were just a few models of these 10m handhelds, sold under
different names including Eagle Spitfire and Titan. AFAIK they are NLA.
You see them on eBay from time to time for $125 - $200 (USD); some
non-US sites also may have them still available.

I purchased one of the Titan models (new) on eBay two or three years ago.
I haven't looked recently, but expect they may still be available.

The Titan RPSY-201 has USB, LSB, AM and FM capability. It isn't a very
good radio, but it works. I've used it to check into a local Ten Meter
net, but it is only heard by the nearest stations unless it is connected
to a larger antenna system.

Service data and possible modifications can be found on the web if you
search for similar radios such as the Albrecht AE-201S, Mundara sy-201 and
Cherokee ah-100.

Funny I should read this post tonight...I was just talking about my old ten
meter handheld with my wife; sold it years ago and wish I still had it
today. It was an AEA DX Handy. It operated both SSB and CW and offered
about 50 Khz (if I remember correctly) coverage each in two places on the
ten meter band. It used a couple of crystals swung the frequency about them
a bit. It put out 1 1/2 watts of RF. I worked my first HF contact with one
of these....Cincinnati to Salt Lake City (but cheated and was feeding the RF
into a low dipole). My favorite contact was operating the rig
"stock"...built in telescoping antenna, trailling a counterpoise behind me.
I was stand in the parking lot of a local grocery store and worked and East
German station on the day the wall came down. Unforgettable experience!
These radios are kinda rare now, although they were also marketed in Japan
under another name (Mizuno?) The Japanese company was the actual
manufacturer of the radio. There was also a version made for 6 meters.
