Do you mean removing the guts and replacing tubes with with modern solid
state parts or do you mean somehow replacing entire radio with an Alpine
or Pioneer or something that will fit in the hole in the dash?

Ask Gary Tayman over on rec.antiques.radios&phonos. He does that
for a living.

Hi Scott. what I would like to do is use the original radio and
replace all the tubes with solid state. I have built a few stations
over the years so it can't be that hard.

OK, maybe you can remove all the old guts and do some magic and put new
guts (from a donor radio) into the old case?

If worst comes to worst, that is what I may do.

John,
it is alot more fun to restore an old tube radio.
I did it many times. Parts are available.
