Default ARRL Policy Shift?

"Roger" wrote

Information from source inside ARRL indicates their
membership numbers are falling rapidly. In an effort to
bolster their failing membership numbers, ARRL will begin
targeting the huge numbers of CB hobby type operators, who
are generally referred to as "freebanders." ARRL will also
extend a friendly hand to Unlicensed Low Power FM hobbyists.
Look for future articles and adverstising aimed at these two
untapped large audiences of potential ARRL members.

The Armenian judges gave this a 9.8 on the Olympic Troll-O-Meter, but
they were over-ruled by the umpires in instant replay, who award it a
1.4.

The Armenian judges lodged a formal protest!

It was sufficiently trollish, of course, but way too obvious.
It was poorly written, poorly executed, and was so incredibly
lame as to lack the true drawing power of a really masterful
troll.

Maybe as high as a 1.6 for the intense stupidity of the
premise, but a 9.8? Never!

The Armenian judges tear their hair out, throw their balalaikas
down in dismay, and perform the traditional Armenian Dismay Chant!

They demand a recount!

Yeah thats it. Make those nasty rip off ARRL guys stop going around
getting BPL info, lets make them stop going to WARC meetings and
fighting to KEEP AMATEUR RADIO GOING.

Yeah....lets make them all sit at Newington instead.

Yep...youse guys are the types that would bitch about anything....just
to bitch.

That's the modern ARRL plan Dan. Fight the threats from without, while the
Service rots from within. Let the service rot if it means raking in a few
more dollars. Pretty soon there won't be anything good left in the service
worth protecting. That would be like spending money to preserve what the
CB service is today.

We need to get Hans' troll-o-meter on this one, Vince.

No Amateur Radio Service=No Members=No Dollars=NoARRL.

Looks like a pretty silly assertion to me.

The closest thing I saw to that was the MOU with REACT.

I no longer keep QST beyond the past year or so, therefore I no longer
have the issue where he broached the subject in his monthly "It seems to
us" column. But it sure was there some time back, a year and a half or
two years ago, maybe a little longer. Look through your old QSTs and
you'll find it.

I think he was testing the waters, and I should not be surprised if he
found them uncomfortably warm!
