Dee suggested, "Find a different club."

To which John thought, "How would I be of any use, if all I did was hang
with those who agreed with me?"

The junior college here will offer a summer course which will count .5
unit towards an AA degree (in an appropriate field), as part of the final
they will be given a general test, final grade will depend on passing that
test. Hopefully, we will turn out tens of new generals per year... class
has cleared most hurdles, fine points still open to being worked out, and
will be instituted summer following the discontinuance of CW testing.

Let's prove those saying dropping CW will make no difference BIG liars!

As I have been pointing out to you, with my last few posts, taking newbies
under your wing and showing them there is nothing to fear. The gov't has
granted them their license, certainly no one here is able to question the

those who can demonstrate this ability now, who will be able to help them
then...

Indeed we techs have been taking care of our own quite awhile now

Not as other might like prehaps but I was taught my starting stuff by a
Tech plus (now extra class friend) and I have my feldglings as well,
some of whom since they had the talent for manual Morse 5 in fact some
in the Fm repater zone some into other things too

these days been working with guy localy he is a bit slow (not stupid or
anything just takes quite awhile to muddle through) and therefore been
brushed aside by many trys my pataince at times. We met atthe club
meeting after the NPRM day both having shown up to show off a shiny new
radio, exactly the Same Model shiny new radio, the Icom 910 H with 23
cm module, he was having touble installing it I helped showing off the
insides and such we chatt most days indeed thanks to him I remeber to
turn my radio on more, but I also hear hecklers when he come the
repteater to get my attenion they don't give their calls, but they are
not nice. We then change freqs up to 1.2 gig simplex

I have encouaged several new licensees myself and most of thm have
found niches in Ham radio to suit them a couple are even realy into CW
as an interesting karmic turn

But I am not expecting a smooth transition, I wish I were

I did not say the club agrees with me. Many members don't. But we still
treat each other with respect and work together.

Dee:

Yes, let us hope the future gets brighter... and if it doesn't, we take it
upon ourselves to enact further changes so it may.

There are many, frequent and accelerated changes which lie ahead which
amateur radio already has a late start on--it is already a game of
catch-up...
