It looks like one of the surplused pay TV antennas that were cut for
a single UHF TV channel.

Well we are sure having fun with this .

I should tie a role of string to it then run with it in the wind to see
if it flys . Probably need to stretch a tee shirt over it though .

Have you considered running a dip meter past it? Might be revealing...

(Can you even _buy_ dip meters any more?)
