Default Greetings. Any scanner gurus in NYC?

I'm a longtime shortwave listener who has often decided to take up
scanning, but never seemed to get around to it. It looks like I might
soon be able to. I'm located in NYC and would very much like to
connect with local expertise -- a person or club. (I know we have
trunking here; not sure about digital; etc.)

I don't want to bog the group down with NYC specific questions, so I'm
happy to use email (just "cut" what begs to be cut from my address.)
Or I'm happy to ask questions here and bore the non-NYC folks. Be
well,
