(did,nt listen to the medical before the change so no big thing for me,) but the whole concept of going to a common system for the metro area was to insure that all services could work and communicate.that just went out the window. no-one can talk to medical and medical can't talk to fire or police . stupid Australia had a Natural Disaster back in 1974 when a Cyclone just about wiped Darwin off the map in the following days there were Police sent from other states to help out. but it was a nightmare as they all had their own radion equipment and it was completely incompatible making radio comms almost impossible The State Govts got together and formulated a "Police Band" with 64 channels from 467.850MHz to 469.425MHz to be used Australia wide so that no matter where they were sent comms was possible the Motorola got into the Police around the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and convinced them to go for an P25 digital radio system, The same as being used by the ACT and Northern Territory Later QLD also went the same. However Tasmania went for an 800MHZ Ericsson EDACS system South Australia went for a 400MHz encrypted digital trunking system Western Australia went for a 420Mhz non trunking digital system and Victoria went for a 400MHz encrypted digital trunking system Now the only stated capable of communication between states ins NSW/QLD/NT and ACT the rest have completely incompatible systems so much for their disaster plans Kev |
