I built a similar project abvout 20 years ago and it was very nice to
only have one microphone and one speaker to deal with.
In my version the selected audio was 100% and the others where
about 20%. I could mute the others in an emergency.
MAde it much easire to manage my ham radio, my CB, company business
band and the 3 scanners.

Of course my "controler" cost me about 50$.
I added a I/O for a Headset and a vox for another ~30$
