There was an announcement on tody's news the dogfood company added
quite a few brand names to its list of possibly contaminated dog/cat
foods so any grocer's list is out dated. I did notice IAMS in the
stack of condemned foods. We feed our big German Shepherd steaks
(reduced) , Milk Bone, and Pedigree. So far they are not on the list
but the list keeps getting longer.
. If anyone is interested, I can look up the website of the
company..the head office is near Toronto.

Steaks? for steaks I will pretend I am a dog.

I did phone that toll free phone number at Midwestern Pet Food,Inc. 1
800 474 4163 EXT 450
A prerecorded message thingy on my phone from Midwestern (it was a lady)
said,Thank you for calling (blah blah blah) Midwestern Pet Food is in no
way associated with Menu Foods and Midwestern Pet Food does not buy
products from Menu Food. You can rest assured Midwestern pet food is safe
for your pets.

I don't remember all of the exact words the message said, but that is the
gist of what the message said.

Yes, don't let a Cunucky company kill your precious pet.

What really amazes me is that this clown was even able to look something up.

Boggling.

Yes, DxEcch's mind boggles very easily. If he had done a little
research on his own, instead of galloping off in all directions in his
Johnny-one-note vendetta, he would have found that nearly all of the
contaminated foods were produced in US plants from tainted Chinese
sources. Oops, I made the sentence too long. DxEcch can't handle long
sentences.
In point form, then:
1 The Chinese imports of foodstuffs are normal practice by US firms
2. At last count, 6 US companies were pulling stock off the shelves
3. The FDA does not properly inspect Chinese importsof foodstuffs
4. Very little of the tainted food was made in Canada.
For further reading on this, I suggest

In reply to another post, dogs really like meat and a certain
percentage of their diet should be meat. Get to know a friendly
butcher and he will save outdated steaks for you of little market
value which are just fine for dogs. It is their natural food and they
seem to prefer aged beef.
If you are going to have a dog, you should feed it properly.

There is lots of blame to go around but you will have to wait for the
official investigation to end before you can point fingers. At the
moment, labs are still identifying trace elements.
I am also interested in how much human food is contaminated by
these Chinese (and Mexican) imports.

What this mess has pointed up is that there are no controls over the
very few large contract manufacturers of cat and dog food. We have
least a hundred brands of cat and dog food sold at widely varying
prices all made under the same roof by some unknown company up in
Canada. My guess is that the "premium" pet food some of us pay
significant money for is really no diffferent from and as potentially
dangerous as the inexpensive Wal Mart brand.

Notice thingy at the top part of their website. If you own (or they own
you,my little doggy owns me) any pets, check with the Veterinary supply
stores or the quality pet stores in your area. When it comes to dog
food,I never buy it at the cheapie stores.
