Word has it that iBiquity is experiencing so much financial mayhem that they've stopped all projects, both current and future, and are regrouping or possibily worse. Rather than posting messages with vague unsupported claims why don't you give us the details. Where did you read the rumors, who wrote them and most importantly what specifically was written (or spoken). iBiquity is owned by private equity firms and by the major station groups. It does not put out financials to Wall Street.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - - Again, the original poster should produce the evidence - that IBiquity is having financial problems. - Makes me think whoever is posting as RFBurns - has another agenda. - Maybe he has an interest in one of the third tier - competitor companies. - Or he's some hack journalist. - I notice he has not responded again under that name. Roadie - Oops - Do I Hear A Conspiracy Theory ! ? ! ~ RHF Not sure I read conspiracy into that, maybe you can explain where you see one. Rfburns is simply a fool spouting off unsupported nonsense about the financial condition of iBiquity. We can argue about whether HD is worth going out of ones way to listen to. To me it is about as unappealing as satellite radio. But there are more than a few radio stations adding those channels and switching programming over, so it is achieving some level of success. Could RF Burns and IBOC Crock are Part of a Capitalist Cabal to sink IBOC Radio and Promote 'other' Completing Voice {Radio} Technologies via the Internet ? - It Boggles the Mindless ! Then Again . . . Maybe d'Eduardo has a Split-Persona {Non-Grata} and : DE = RF Burns = IBOC Crock = $ Job Security $ for DE. Naw, it's just the usual group of clowns on rec.radio.shortwave whining on and on about why HD radio is bad. But that's about all it is - just vague whining and lots of unsupported allegations. If they could come up with some solid reasons why it won't be a commercial success and attract listeners I'm sure that would be interesting reading. Whether there is enough demand to make HD radio a commercial success is anyones guess at this point. It may end up like satellite radio and never generate enough listeners to break even. Somehow HD radio will have to come up with unique programming to draw listeners away from traditional radio programming. Satellite radio failed with tricks like Howard Stern and they are hemmoraging red ink because of those multi-million dollar contracts. Who knows - maybe extended BBC programming will draw listeners to HD radio. The fundamental problem faced by any new mode of radio transmission is that there is a huge reluctance on the part of listeners to add the required new hardware and subscribe as in the case of satellite radio. HD and satellite radio could overcome that reluctance with a set of programming that is interesting and different. So far they haven't made their case.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - There also something called WiFi/WiMax wireless Internet portable radio.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - You made this statement: "Word has it that iBiquity is experiencing so much financial mayhem that they've stopped all projects, both current and future, and are regrouping or possibily worse." Again, please provide support for your statement that they are experiencing so much financial mayhem that they are stopping all projects...etc. |
