JAPAN AOR Japan announced in their Japanese homepage that they have
ended the production of AR-7030PLUS receiver. The sales will be stopped
when the stock is out.
(Takahito Akabayashi, Fuchu City, Tokyo, Japan, wwdxc BC-DX Dec 13)

I hate to think the end is near for another great table-top

receiver! think i may order another from the UK, and mothball

it for the future.

GOOD DX!

Dear Drifter,

I see no such notice on either AOR Japan's English-language web page
http://www.aorja.com/index-e.html nor on AOR-UK's web page
http://www.aoruk.com/Default.htm . Though I do not read Japanese, I
should think that, if such an important notice were given on AOR
Japan's Japanese web page, they would also translate that notice for
the benfit of English-speaking customers.

I certainly hope that Takahito Akabayashi is incorrect. We must keep
tabs on this.

Best,

Joe

-wrt- AOR 7030+

FWIW - It's Aint Discontinued 'until' the existing
Warehouse Stock is gone.

Production may have 'stopped' -but- there are still
Radios "In-Stock" to be sold.

This does not preclude a re-start of the production
of this Radio at some latter date.

-WHY- Keep the Production Line Going -IF- You have a
Years Supply of Radios "In-Stock" in the Warehouse to
be Shipped and Sold ? -jit- ~ RHF

Dear Peter,

I just wish I had the money to buy two or three new ones and just keep
them in their original boxes. I'll bet that ten years from now, or
even sooner, I'd be able to get a pretty penny for them!

Best,

Joe

Perhaps. But that may be an investment that turns very sour. With
much activity moving away from SW, and MW Broadcasting pretty much a
wasteland of QRM, today...well, let's just say that you'd be hearing the
clearest, most selectively tuned noise in radio.

Dear "Drifter,"

I do apologize for my previous post here. There is in fact a link to a
page that shows that production has ended on the AR7030 'Plus' and
sales have ended of the AR7030.

Here is the actual link:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...ductinfoj.html

I got this from Dave Zantow's site. I'll be darned if I know how he
found it! I went to AOR Japan's English-language page and I couldn't
find any links at all that took me to this page!

But, for those who want it, here it is. I HOPE this refers only to the
Japanese market. I think it would be a real shame to discontinue this
radio as, currently, it is absolutely the best value shortwave
receiver on the market; it will perform as well as the most expensive
"professional" shortwave receiver and do it at a far lower cost. If
you read PASSPORT's review of the ICOM IC-R9500 ($13,500.00!) you will
see that, in real-world listening, the AR7030 'Plus' actually
outperforms it.

In any event, this radio is destined to become a highly sought after
collector's item. I do not think too many owners will be foolish
enough to sell theirs!

Best,

Joe

Dear "Drifter,"

Is Dave Zantow shutting down his site next year? This is the first
I've heard of this. What information along this line do you have? I too
like his site very much and I really hope he keeps it going. Like you,
I periodically check RadioIntel as well, just hoping ...

I hope your holiday season is the very best.

Hi Joe. Dave had a note on his site a month or 2 ago. he said he

just doesn't have the time to keep it up anymore. for as long as i

can remember, RadioIntel was my morning news. first stop, while the

coffee was perking. bunch of good info there. as i said, i'm hoping

for a come back. or, maybe someone as dedicated will pick it up.

Best of the Holiday.

GOOD DX!
Drifter...

lil' PS here. i just realized i used the word "perk". showing my
age here. starting to sound like my 84 year old Father.
