Default Microsoft Taking Official Petitions to Keep XP Alive

On Mon, 2 Jun 2008 23:53:09 -0400, "Billy Smith"
wrote:

Considering that I have 1 XP laptop, 3 XP desktops, 2 Vista Laptops, and 1 Vista Desktop says

Really? That's like some little old lady spending her morning
squeezing tomatoes at her grocery store and then claiming she's
qualified to run Campbell Soup company. The resident idiot Frank
claims to have 9 computers and everybody knows he's a clueless moron
that likes to scream and yell.

Hint: How many computers you have has absolutely no relevance to your
knowledge of computers.

In fact, probably several hours of the day outside of work. Perhaps you're less than
capable using Vista or learning how not to crash a computer system would be
educational for you.

Silly boy. You keep assuming Vista is crashing on me and I'm stumped
what to do about it as opposed to me reporting on Vista crashes and
offering solutions or just commenting on how dumb Microsoft is for
allowing X, Y or Z to happen. Apples and oranges.

I don't sit around and install new updates every time. One because I use all
my computers more than that. I have computers for different purposes. One
primarily for amateur radio software and music not to mention media mixing.
Another is for website development and business. 2 are for personal pleasure
one desktop and the other laptop.

Sorry, not impressed. How many computers you play with in your mom's
basement is of little consequence and you haven't mentioned a single
thing you do with any of them that's relevant to your supposed
knowledge or experience.

The other couple get a lot of web usage.
One pretty much has thousands of songs on it. You might learn something from
some of the posters here. No small task to keep all those computers running
in top shape. Something else that eludes you.

Oh please... we're suppose to be impressed because you have a computer
with thousands of songs on it? Did you compose some of these songs?
Remix them, change the pitch, tempo, do anything other that download
them and then play them back? I doubt it.

As far as learning from some of the posters here... I do. Sorry you're
not one of them unless your lesson was self-importance, bragging and
how to whine. We already have a surplus of those kind of posters, your
services aren't required.

MS Says - Windows XP Sales will Stop on 30 June 2008.

Note - Some Existing 'new' Old-Stock of Windows XP presently

MS Says - Technical Support [Service Pack Downloads] for
Window XP will be provided by Microsoft Corp until 2014.

OK - What is the Problem ?

Yeah -if- You buy a New Computer you will likely get stuck
with have Micorsoft's VISTA pre-installed -but- your Old PC
that is running Windows XP will have support for Five (5)
more years.

Hopefully within those Five (5) Years Microsoft will have

If you can remember back a few weeks, Steve Ballmer went on
record saying
that Microsoft would consider extending the life of Windows
XP if enough
people asked for it. Afterall, many people don't want to
upgrade to
Windows Vista because they are perfectly content with XP. The
problem was
there was no way to ask for it. Sure, you could sign one of
the many
online petitions, but Microsoft considers those "non-official
complaints"
and the rest of us simply consider them silly.

Well, word has been passed down to the tech support teams
(and then on to
Neowin) that they are to begin logging any calls that come in
for the sole
purpose of requesting an extension to the retail life of
Windows XP. The
calls will be logged and, if enough complaints are filed,
Microsoft will
consider giving XP some more time (no pinky promises, though).

If you wish to file an official petition yourself, you can
simply call the
Windows XP Home Edition support numbers for your country and
let the
operator know that you wish to file an official complaint.
Because we're
so nice and want to save you the trouble, here are the
numbers for a
majority of Neowin's visitors:

United States: (866) 234-6020
United Kingdom: 0870 60 10 100
Canada: (800) 936-8479

If your country isn't listed, you can visit the Microsoft
Support Site,
choose your country, choose Windows XP Home Edition as your
product and
then go to 'Contacts' for the appropriate support number.

I disagree with their methodology but will make the call.

We all know you are experienced at installing updates. It seems that
updates and service packs are a way of life with Windows.

Oh? As compared to the 180+ updates for urbuttoo? Or how about upgrading
to a whole new os every six months? Isn't that the "way of life' with
linux/urbuttoo, huh?
Did you come to this Vista ng to try and spread your lies like you have
been doing in the printer ng now for yrs?
Guess what asshole, I've got your number and you're #1 on my **** list!

The Ubuntu LTS versions are every other year. The intermediate versions
are for new users to play with 'til the next LTS version. There has
never been a "whole new os" as far as I can tell, just constant
refinements (usually hardware support as more and more vendors hop
on-board) that are almost always 100% backwards compatible.

Ubuntu 8.04 is an LTS and like butter.

Ubuntu, Fedora and XP.

XP you say? I think slowly Microsoft is getting the message. They dusted
off mothball plans for XP becasue Vista was too fat and slow for Eee PC.
And Eee PC with Linux was and still is selling pretty good. So the choice
was to revivce XP for the Eee PC or not participate. XP will be around for
a long time to come.

If you know XP, moving to Ubuntu or Fedora is not as bad as it sounds. In
fact, the menus are much better organized.

There is no doubt a Linux based system will do the internet. Virtually
every common internet protocol out there existed on UNIX/Linux before
M-Windows. And even many that most that are not in the internet.
