![]() The basic innards haven't changed all that much, but the envelope technology definately has. The tubes they used in the 30's were huge glass bottles (R. Peking used to have finals that you could go inside of and change the elements, rather than replace the tubes!). In places where they still use tubes at all (not very many anymore), the things tend to be much smaller ceramic types.
