they changed format/whatever.

Someone must have a leaky cable setup near you. There should not be
any over the air signals on the old analog channels. There is the
possibility that someone is rebroadcasting the signal but I doubt it.

And don't put down over the air DTV. At least in Detroit, the picture
quality is every bit as good as cable with just a modest external
antenna. The best part is its free - so far.

Don't know what's going on in Hinds County, but here in inner-city San Diego I
have a discontinued radioshack indoor antenna that I reviewed awhile back that
works fine OTA.
As the post isn't available I'll include my review: Posted back in April this
year to [alt.video.digital-tv]
"Went and got the antenna that caught my attention the other day at Radio
Shack, #15-1892
http://tinyurl.com/cb239v. What sparked interest was the
inclusion of a remote. It has a dish shaped radome on a pedestal to house a
UHF log periodic beam that actually does make a difference on weaker stations
and can remember azimuth vector settings by channel number in a non volatile
memory.
I generally get satisfactory OTA VHF reception with a set of basic rabbit ears
and the included 'ears' in the new antenna are no exception. I picked a vector
setting that favored the weakest analog station K35DG (UCSD Campus station)
and did a rescan. I ended up with several more stations than I had before and
with a bit of aiming adjustment got a couple more usable English language
stations to add to the queue, locking out most of the Mexican ones. I'll have
to wait for the next rain to see how it reduces the occasional pixelation, but
all in all I think it was a good, maybe not great, investment. This evaluation
took place in an inner-city neighborhood of San Diego so the performance will
likely vary in other locations like deep fringe rural, where I wonder if the
three levels of amplification would even be enough.
The convenience of not having to get up and go over to the TV to diddle the
'ears' to optimize when changing to another station or during a rain is why I
chose to try this thing and it has performed well for that."

I love the Mexican version of The Simpsons.

My DirecTV does not have channel 30.
Channel 1 is a DirecTV Customer Information Channel.Below channel 1 is
channel 3 (WLBT) and then channel 12 (WJTV) and below that is channel 16
(WAPT) and below that is channel 29 (WMPN) and below that is channel 34
WRBJ) and below that is channel 35 (WUFX) and below that is channel 40
(WDBD) Those channels (except for channel 1) are the local Jackson area
tv stations, I do think so.Below those channels are probally over 200
channels I can pick up with my DirecTV service.I don't know how many
channels I get, I have tried to count them before. Most of them do not
interest me at all. There are a lot of XM music channels I can tune
in/click on too.

If I had a converter hooked up to receive HDTV channels, I think I could
receive channel 30.I think.
