At the risk of not answering your answer directly....if you are
interested in sideband reception, I wouldn't go for either of these radios. That is the weak point of both. Here is a link to a review of the 909 / 400PE / 7600g.' http://www.radiointel.com/reviews.htm check the Endless Debate review. This (your?) review is very useful, but I must point out that it is a review of the 7600g, not the 7600gr. In many places, edits have been made to acknowledge the improved features of the gr, but not in all places. The review finally decides for the 7600g. Add in the gr improvements and it should be a bigger win for sideband performance. There is also a separate review on the Sangean at radiointel I have had both of the radios you are asking about. For a few bucks more, you will have a better radio. If you have to pick between the two, go for the 400PE. good luck -- Col. I.P.
