They're using a neutered version of Mozilla 1.0. Depends which version. The current build is apparently based on Mozilla 1.4. The full User Agent of the present Netscape 7.1 build reads: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Netscape/7.1 Rgds, fraudulent hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm good to see. I like moz now, and it is smaller. So I'll not bother to download Netscape again. Good to see they use the current code though. there is now no reason to use IExplorer. |

They've neutered the anti- popup features and a few others to make it more palatable to AOL. Use the real Mozilla or Firebird instead. I think you might be a few versions behind. The last few builds of Netscape (from 7.01 IIRC) have had full functionality if the popup manager restored. In previous versions it could be done quite easily by adding a line to prefs.js, but now it's back in the GUI (Edit | Preferences). What's more, Netscape 7.2 has a *very* effective junk-mail manager. It's already quite good "out of the box," but actually learns from experience; if it marks a message incorrectly and you change it, the program remembers for next time. It was a real life-saver on the recent spate of sobig.f virus emails. Regards, valhalla |

Actually, one reason to use IE... there are thousands of websites out there that are written ONLY for IE.. don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.. Well.........it all relative!! I've been using Opera since version 2 back in 98, and with each version they have become more compatible with IE's version of HTML (without loosing W3W compliant standard HTML). Version 7 is 99.99 compatible. Same story with Mozilla. In the last 4-months I've run accross one site which was partially garbled..................guess...............yep M$'s site. (or some part of it). anyway that this stage there are very few website which will not load right. In fact an old IE3 or IE4 will give less compatiblity with newer sites than the new alternatives. You're right, compatibility will never be total, but it is good enough for me at this point. And when Mozilla locksup my OS doesn't go with it like when using IE. peace. |

that are written ONLY for IE.. don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.. But why would anyone want to go to a website like that? If they do that with their website, imagine how messed up all their other business practices or ideas are. I also turn java and cookies off so that I don't get any websites that are programmed to only work with those on. This way I end up happy with all the businesses I deal with as they are smart to program sites that work with ALL browsers at ALL settings and if they are smart enough to figure that out, then they must run their businesses smart too. |

there that are written ONLY for IE.. don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.. I know. They are on many a boycott list. They are not to be visited or patroned. Boycott not necessary, you CAN'T visit them, the sites don't work. In essence, they have set up the boycott themselves preventing a big slice of the population from being ABLE to view their site. |

There's no reason to use Netscape, either. They've neutered the anti-
popup features and a few others to make it more palatable to AOL. Use the real Mozilla or Firebird instead. Not with the old version I am using. Just turn off Javascript and no pop up ads. Don't get the latest versions of anything, including operating systems, unless you like getting viruses and spyware all the time. |
