It's still a POS. Had two stock ones and one with the
mods. Got rid of them but kept my DX 300.

To each his own. What's a POS?

BTW, reviews of DX-300:

3/5 - eHam.net http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/3454

"used audio filtering for its Wide/Narrow bandwidth"; "prone to overload";
"quite 'twitchy' to tune properly" -
http://www.anarc.org/naswa/issues/0396/equp0396.html

1/5 - http://www.dxing.com/rx/dx200.htm the same source that gave 1/5 for
the DX-394!

So in the opinion of others, the DX-300 is value-rated inferior to or no
better than the DX-394, without mods. With suitable mods, the DX-394 can be
greatly improved. There is no other radio receiver in the market that I'm
aware of that has as large and comprehensive base of documented, useful
modifications. It has the 3rd largest receiver-specific user group in
Yahoo!Groups.
