Perhaps somebody at Amazon made their Irish Coffee just a bit too Irish. ![]() JIAW I think it was just a case of they had several in the warehouse that weren't moving and they decided to cut the price and dump them before year end. My guess is the SW100s is a better seller because it's smaller, and has more or less comparable features and performance at about the same (regular) price. Mine came in yesterday. I haven't had it long enough to make up my mind about it but preliminary results lead me to think I'm still going to be taking my 7030 system on camping trips, and on vacations when I'm driving or can ship it ahead. But to be fair, I have been using it in the house, and I haven't hooked it up to my "Doty style" antenna, so I'm getting RFI from the computer network and all the other gizmos that led me to put an antenna a couple hundred feet away from the house. I don't know but I bet it overloads on a good antenna. The front end anyway on my SW100 does. When it comes with an active antenna, that means it's not really sensitive enough on its own, as well. It is small, and for mid-difficulty signals probably pretty good. I don't know how it'll handle my "Doty" antenna. It's 65 feet long with an aiken (aka Norlin or Applied Communications) preamp that can be remotely switched in or out. But considering the weight of the sw07, I think testing it out will wait until I have time to create a patch cord to connect to the wall jack with RG-316e. |
