Agree with Bob's response, but also think it's worth pointing out
(given the original header of the post) that, to my knowledge, Radio
Shack *never* "made" their own radios. Some of their stuff is "made to
their specifications" however you want to interpret that, but I don't
think they have their own manufacturing facility for anything, and don't
know if they ever did. The DX-402 Bob refers to, for example, was made
by Sangean.

But the point is they didn't make radios. Most of their SW line was
rebadged Sangeans, except for the DX396 and maybe another model, which
were made by a company in China that I never did find out who it was. I
had a look at the radio line of one of the biggest RS's in my area and
they sold only two SW capable radios, the Grundig YB400 and the Grundig
windup. Shortwave must not be too popular these days, or else the
cellphones have greater profit margins.

Your reading comprehension needs work. The claim was that RS ever made
anything (read it again, slowly). That is not the case.
