the News and Information that it provides to the British People that is

It is the duty of the BBC and press to point out to the public the
cock-ups of the government, of whichever party. And there have been
plenty from this government. Foot-and-mouth disease, immigrants, the
NHS, the railways, the fishing industry...etc.

The BBC is informing the electorate.
The press usually doesn't have enough information to be 'Accurate'
particularly when most of the info comes from the government itself.
