Yes the Kiwa MW Loop is astonishingly effective. Often beats a well placed
1000 foot beverage. It is now discontinued, but I think it last sold new for $350. Now regularly sells used for $700 plus on eBay -- John Plimmer, Montagu, Western Cape Province, South Africa South 33 d 47 m 540 s, East 20 d 07 m 541 s. RX Drake R8B, SW8 BW XCR 30, Braun T1000, Sangean 818 & 803A. Hallicrafters SX-100, Eddystone 940 GE circa 50's radiogram Antenna's RF Systems DX 1 Pro, Datong AD-270 Kiwa MW Loop "GO BEARCATS" wrote in message ... As I recall the reason for stopping production was that he moved and could no longer get the PVC pipe required for manufacture. If you ask me, PVC pipe can be shipped anywhere, so supply shouldn't be a problem. If he'd care to contact me with the particulars, I might just start building the darn things here! There is obviously a market. |

They work about as well as you can get a single loop to work, balanced and aimable to a fine degree, stable regeneration to narrow the bandwidth. For about $600 you can set up two active whips and an ANC-4 and do better than a single loop (or set up a whip and an active broadband loop with an ANC-4, so they can be co-located). So that would be an upper limit on what the Kiwa might bring, but below that it would still make sense. -- Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |
