Default slinky success!

hi folks...

picked up some materials (2 slinkys, some insulated wire, and alligator
clips) over the weekend, and assembled this evening.

it actually works!...i found that it made some of the shakier signals
listenable..in particular an Air Force News on 7506 khz USB.
robotic-sounding, staticy voices became human sounding and strong.

i'm quite pleased with the performance increase on a ten dollar investment.

heres the setup i used.

slinky attached to curtains with alligator clips at far ends.
one wire with alligator clips attached to the inner ends.
the one wire i stripped off the insulation in the middle.
attached an alligator-clipped wire to the stripped spot.
attached other end to the whip with an alligator clip.

question--
are there any changes i can do to this set up to improve performance?
specifically, would it be worth wiring up things so i can 'plug into' the
antenna jack on the receiver?..if so how would i hook up the ends of the
wires (going to use an old pair of headphones)

thanks
andy
