Somebody actually ended the auction with the "Buy it Now" option. They
actually paid $579 (plus $15 shipping).

I think I'm gonna go sell something on eBay. Here kitty...

If it works, it's not a bad deal. The synch detector is really nice,
in being _very_ unobtrusive for weak signals and strong. Sony has
retrogressed badly on synch detection.

A good deal is where both sides come out better off,
and it's only possible because people customarily disagree about
value.

That's why you want economic activity, in fact; every voluntary
trade makes both sides better off, so the more of them the higher
the standard of living.

Taxing trades heavily enough stops economic activity, because
you can't find disagreement on value large enough to cover the tax,
and the standard of living falls.

Anyway all you have to look at is whether both sides are happy with it.

This is a little OT, but I have a SW77 and I've never had the chance to use
a 2010. Is the synch detector on the 2010 really that much better than the
sync circuit in the SW77? I always assumed the SW77 was somewhat of a
refinement of the 2010's technology.

I like the SW77. The only complaint I have about it is the audio quality,
especially with the synch detector in use. It always seems a bit muffled.

It's the same with the 2010. But there is a pretty simple mod to get
around it for the 2010. Don't know about this for the 77.
But I'm not into broadcast listening that much so I did not do this mod
to my 2001D.
Last but not least I prefer listenig to shortwave with my NRD-525
connected to some external equipment... :-)
I mainly use the 2001D as bedside radio and on vacation trips. I like
the ergonomics and the ease of use in full darkness.

(T)RX:
NRD-525 with serial interface
PCR-1000 without UT-106 DSP
Yaesu FT50-R
Sony ICF-2001D (2010)
Albrecht AE300 100Khz-2.060Ghz AM FM SSB no gaps
Loewe Opta LO50 stereo radio with valves FM AM LW SW
Trio 9R-59DS

audio:
Datong FL2 analog audio filter in series with
Dierking GD 82NF analog audio filter in series with
Kenwood HiFI-amp with integrated equalizer feeding
AKG K-240Monitor headphones and/or hifi-speakers

antennas:
Magnetic loop 18-31Mhz remote tuning
Discone 25-1300Mhz
FD-antenna 40.5mtr/ 135 ft
FD-antenna 13.8mtr/ 44 ft
rain gutter areal app. 150 mtr/ 495 ft
Yaesu FRT7700 preselector
Yaesu FRA7700 selective active antenna/ modified for selective preamp

....and last but not least a bunch of computers...

I loved the 2010 - owned 4 of 'em. Wish I'd never sold my last one.
But $594 shipped is outa the park.

Shows the R-75 at $499, and Universal is throwing in some freebies.

ANYONE who would pay $579 for a Sony 2010 is sick in the head.
