Revisionist historians, perhaps. Eisenhower did what he had to do

honor treaties. Kennedy escalated. Johnson really escalated. Nixon
ended the war.

Nixon ended the war after another 6 years of escalation....

I don't buy the Nixon/Kissinger claim of a "secret plan" to end the
war, but it is a stretch to say that there was escalation under Nixon.

This clearly was LBJ's war for purposes of the point raised by the OP.

what will? Jimmy Breslin had it right yesterday when he said that
only a fool would vote for the Wizard of Ooze.

And today you can be 100% CERTAIN that most of the
same people who voted for Bush are back to watching
Jerry Springer, Bowling and Boozing or tightening lug nuts
on tire hubs because they have some big bearded god in the sky
who said he'd "take care of them" if they just continue to
kiss his ass and send money to Trinity Broadcasting Network......

I fear GREATLY for my country.

Please oh please, Usama bin Laden, come and take us now! !

(NOTE: that last comment above was a sarcastic comment
for all you knee-jerk anencephalic dolts and "Red State"
Bubbas' reading this now) pfhbltttt!

I take offense to that. I am a degreed Electrical Engineer, have
never watched Jerry Springer (except for the first time which is why I
don't watch it), I've never sent a nickel to TBN nor do I watch it,
and as a matter of fact, *everyone* knows God has a beard! :-)

By the way, you should *always* capitalize the word God and words
referring to Him. You seem to think that Republicans are all
redneck's but I suppose that is no different than the fact that I
think all Democrats are gay, vegetarians, college professors, pot
smokers, anti-military Michael Moore lovers.

You're just sour that you lost. Why not try and *support* your
government instead of bad-mouthing it. It might help you appreciate
what you have since you obviously don't understand that and probably
have never had to do without.

Oh, and the comment about bin Laden really was in poor taste (and my
knees didn't even twitch).

Cheers!

Classic loony left condescension from a band of hypocrites that loves
to style itself as representing the "real people"--that is until it's
time to hate monger on the intelligence of the real people. Rather
than trying to figure out why folks like you are so universally
rejected, the first inclination is to make up another phony newsgroup
ID and go foam at the mouth. It's truly ironic to read such idiotic
commentary questioning -other's- intelligence.

Who let Michael Moore in?

Just watching that socialism dwindle away bit by bit, eh?

Nixon ended the war. No Democrat did that, or even tried. In fact, the
Democratically-controlled Congress tried to fsck even that up, causing
thousands of deaths and injuries during the pullout.

Unquestionably.

LBJ planned to use the war as an excuse for massive deficits, but use
the deficits to finance his socialist Great Society plans.
