Wrong. We PAID them to curtail opium production! Powell approved an
estimated $60mill directly to the Taliban for their efforts to limit
production just a few years ago. It is Afghanistan's only major export, and
they will not just stop it unless they are paid greater value to do so. Why
should they? It's our stinking habits, not Afghanistan's or Columbia's or
any other producer's problem.
