tommyknocker wrote: I was listening to the BBC tonight (0300 Nov 25) and they had a long report on whether or not the Ukraine is headed for a civil war. Their presidential election was rigged by Russia, and nobody in Ukraine is accepting the "winner". The US has said that it will not accept the "winner". There are massive demonstrations there, the squares are filled with people all day and all night, and the "loser" is calling for a general strike. Why do the Ukrainians have more courage than the Americans? America has had TWO rigged presidential elections in a row and nobody is protesting-sure they're grumbling, but there are no massive demonstrations and general strikes. Why isn't there a civil war in America over America's rigged presidential elections? Why wasn't there one in 2000? Are Americans too weak and stupid to recognize when they've been had? Hats off to the Ukranians-they understand democracy. Americans apparently don't. I always find it interesting when the supporters of the 'loser' claim an election was rigged. If John Fraud Kerry would have won you'd be singing praises to the American public, of the electoral system, etc., etc. I have no idea what is going on in the Ukraine, but I think to compare the Ukraine to the USA is a bit much. dxAce Michigan USA |

I've heard reports from observers that stated eye witness accounts of things like: extra ballot boxes showing up at a polling station (i.e., there are more boxes present when counting than were present when voting was going on), more that 100% of a constituency or poll accounted for in votes counted, hiding and stealing of ballot boxes. The witness quoted was a Canadian member of parliament whose name I can't recall. So no, the US election was not like that. Ukraine used paper ballots and made X's, no computer machine voting nor hole punching. I don't think there were any allegations like the 4 years ago issues with Florida in the USA election, at least none reported that I have heard. |
