no, that is too much to pay for an HF-150, they are overrated. worth
less than $400 for sure

Do you own one? They seem to be highly sought after.

Yes, I picked one up not long ago. I wanted something that satisfied
the following conditions:

1. Is compact enough to carry around on "mini-DXpeditions"
2. Will yield better performance than a high end portable
3. Is well-built
4. Is reasonably priced, but a good value for the money

I decided that an HF-150 would be a good way (though by no means the
only way) to satisfy all these conditions. I'm enjoying it. I'm happy
with the purchase and am enjoying the receiver.

I got an email yesterday from that married Irish woman over yonder
across the big pond.Mostly,it was about her thyroid gland test came back
benign and her 23 year old cat had jumped around and injured herself,,
sort of,but her cat is going to be ok and the woman's hubby has a
stomach gut problem.I haven't asked her about looking out for a Lowe
shortwave radio for me yet,but I am thinking about it.

when using the selectable sync youare forced to use the 2.5 filter.
that is unacceptable.

the front end performance is not acceptable.

the IF filter options are very limited, TWO !

has no features to speak of, like bass and treble
short battery life

I don't remember some of the other issues

In EU maybe, but here in the states I have never had the 150 overload- even
when on a 4 element 20M yagi

the IF filter options are very limited, TWO !

But those 2 are nice filters. AM sync with the narrow filter sounds fine -
still has lots of highs.

True- the SP-150 fills it out nicely, but they are not cheap. And having to
use it gets away from the portability.

short battery life
Not an issue with the NiMH batteries- mine with backlight goes well over 12
hrs.
I don't remember some of the other issues

Dale,

which piece of equipment is deemed more important for the 150. The
preselector or the SP-150? I was thinking for the money that those items
cost, one could buy a DSP unit for the 150 instead.
