The fifth nail was meant to pierce his heart, but the gypsies hid the fifth nail from the roman soldiers. In some stories the gypsies were punished by God for prolonging Christ's suffering, and in others they were rewarded for attempting to protect him. The fifth nail is said to have been a real religious artifact with miraculous powers. Its existence today is somewhat questionable, unless you consider the metaphor." - old story related to me while doing postgraduate work at UC Davis Which you appear to have copied -word for word- from http://fifthnail.blogspot.com I actually pulled it off a newsblog from CA which deals in clinical psychology, however I did recall attending a lecture at UC Davis in which the above was discussed. If you feel (or speculate) that my posting of the same was somehow meant to coddle or condone the actions of Mr Duncan and people like him, then you are at best sadly mistaken and at worst somewhat delusional and perhaps unable to apply constructive and intellectual postgraduate level debate or discourse. which for anyone who doesn't know is the URL for the blog kept by the murderous pedophile Joe Duncan. He's the guy who's accused of murdering that family in Idaho and keeping 8-year-old Shasta Groene captive for (IIRC) seven weeks until they were spotted in a Denny's. For your review: "...and by a Gypsy smith (ironworker / forger) they passed, a smith who nails was making. 'Thou dog, thou Gypsy dog' - said she, 'What is it thou art making? ''They're going to crucify a man and I the nails am making.'" 6. Kenrick & Puxon. The Destiny of Europe's Gypsies. Basic Books, Inc. New York, 1972; pg. 151. -------------- The Nail One of the nails that pierced Christ on the Cross. This appears to be an iron nail without rust but with bloodstains. Anyone holding the nail is incapable of lying and must tell the truth. The Grail Guardians sometimes use this to test visitors. The Grail Guardians do not know where the other 3 nails are but do know the story of the fifth nail. (A gypsy was asked by the Jews in the Temple to forge five nails for a crucifixion, one for each wrist and ankle and one for the heart, but the gypsy swallowed the fifth nail so that Christ would not be killed on the Cross but would be killed by the Spear. For this the gypsies were cursed to wander the world.) Part of Simon Phipp's RuneQuest/Glorantha Site http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Rampart/1481/ae10.html ------------- According to the Rev. Larry Merino, who evangelizes among Gypsy communities in Indiana, the following communal myth exists: "..at the Crucifixion site, a Gypsy stole a nail that was intended to pierce the head of Jesus. The theft saved Christ from even more agony and as a reward the gypsy people were given a divine pass on the 8th Commandment." (This nonsense is widely believed or at least - employed as rationalisation.) -------- |
