Ray Nagin needs to look in the miror to see the source of his
problems. All that he does is talk to reporters, make excuses, and
blame everybody else.

I think we should eliminate FEMA and the Dept. of Homeland Security. They
do nothing anyway.

show up fast enough if they don't do anything anyway?

The topic thread names is "Who is to blame?".
Real simple, the idiots who choose to live BELOW sea level.
The same idiots who lived below sea level protected by a
flood wall/levee system designed for a class 3 huricane
who stayed put when a CLASS !4! was forecast to come
ashore where they lived.

You have to love the brainless left, see:

I blame God.

Why?
He's not in charge here.

You don't read very well do you. Yeah, we're mad they didn't do anything
for 5 +days and in my previous post I said: "They
do nothing anyway." That means they haven't done anything for a long time.

Sheesh... you stupid *******s are even dumber than we first thought.

Why don't you take a deep breath and then recite to me what FEMA did for 5+
days that made a difference.

Then recite to me why it took 5+ days.

The tell me how we are supposed to somehow feel confident that when the next
terrorist attacks happens that we will be taken care of.

You probably blame a woman for getting raped too.

Well, It isn't just about NO. Here is a report on neesler AFB in Miss.
Notice they didn't get out 'til 9/1.

Anyone familiar with La, Miss. etc knows the states are heavly forested.
Especially the northern parts. I heard a news crew say it took them 19
hours to get to the Miss. coast from Atlanta. They had to cut their way
through the downed trees across the interstate with a chainsaw to get
through.

Latest word we got from Keesler (1 Sep 05) is that though the base is
pretty messed up there was NO loss of life. The commissary and BX are
toast as is most of family housing and most of the rest of the base.
The folks that rode out the storm at Keesler just came out and had their
first hot meal since it hit...6000 meals on the first go around. They
currently have no phone, land-line or cell, and their runway is the only
one open in the area...only daylight, VFR flights allowed.. Bout it,
though we get a couple of updates per day.

And yes, there are mumblings about doing to Keesler what was done to
Homestead, but only mumblings, not even rumors.

Maybe he did, I'm still waiting for an authorative time line of what
Bush, the Gov, and the mayor did.

IT DOESN"T MATTER.

As Soon as the Nat Weather Service declared a CAT4 storm on or near NO
pre-loaded FEMA trucks all over the country are supposed to start the
drive to marshalling points at the edge of teh storm area and then
romm forward as soom as the storm passes. 90% of the trusks could be
there in 48 hours.

Presuming there are clear paths of ingress/egress and logistical support
all the way in and out. There are reports of no reliable gasoline sources
south of Tuscaloosa Alabama. That's 291 miles north of NOLA. Then they
have
to make sure they aren't headed to an area where they are not needed. Then
they need to make sure the bridges they have to cross are still
structurally sound for their heavier trucks (this is reportedly one of the
BIGGER problems). Then they have to make sure that the areas they are
going
to have been declared safe by the local authorities - if they roll in
among
looting rioters, then they become victims and have to also be rescued.
Then
they have to ensure there is someplace for them to go and operate out of -
they aren't robots and need food, water and rest like you and me. And on,
and on, and on... There is quite a bit more than simply "load up and go".
To make matters worse, NOLA was flooded. FEMA didn't have submersible
vehicles. This is wholly different from other Hurricanes and it was up to
the LOCAL AUTHORITIES to evacuate their constituents to safe ground, if
not
out of the storms path entirely. Also, look at other hurricanes where
there
was *NO* persistent flooding and tell me how long it took the Federal
response to be fully implemented. It would appear to me that the federal
response in this case is either on schedule, or *AHEAD* of schedule.

See, that Brownie is doing a helluva job. Let's give him a nice long
vacation and a big bonus on his paycheck. Damn I wish these ****ing people
who were trapped would stop complaining. Bunch of whiners. Oooh, there's
no water, oooh there's no food, ooh there's feces all around.

While the Bush Administration is to be commended for coming up with
a plan for dealing with terrorism and large scale disasters, it must
be condemned for its abject failure to implement the NRP. And,
specific heads must roll starting with Michael Chertoff and the head
of FEMA.

The NRP had to be shoved down the throats of the resisting Gov and Mayor.
They apparently were playing politics and were fearful of losing command &
control (when they had *clearly* abdicated it by their inaction before
that
point). Chertoff may well wind up being the sacrificial lamb in this
scenario, but there is ample indications that you are lynching the wrong
guy. If I were Bush, I would welcome a post-disaster investigation, if I
didn't demand one myself...
