Default Radio Mart making BIG profits off lying

Radio Mart is making a big profit off the BROKEN FRG-7700 that he bought
from me a few weeks ago. with a few hours to go it is already $62 above what
I sold it for. He has NOT disclosed all of the problems or the truth about
how he got it
http://www.universal-radio.com/catal...rxvr/0083.html

He also bought a Sany 8880 portable with 2 HOLES in the side and immediately
re-listed it but DID NOT disclose the holes !

Hey, I'll warn those suckers who are bidding. Oh wait, their IDs are
private. ;-)

The real culprit here is ebay themselves. Ebay allowed Martyn to return
after being suspended for bidding on his own equipment. Ebay loves the fact
that they can double their seller fee income by allowing resellers to sell
an item that just sold (on ebay) some two to six weeks prior.

Although Mr. RadioMart is very questionable in his business practices, it is
eBay that allows these shenanigans to go unchecked.

Give Martyn enough rope and someday he, indeed, will hang himself. These
kind of practices go way back to the days of the Ham Trader Yellow Sheets.
These type of re-sellers eventually burn out or destroy their market base
themselves.

He describes a problem and shows it in a photo. Is there more to it than
that?

I've seen quite a few 7700s with that problem and it's a sure sign the CPU
is dying. Very common with 7700 radios (and most first generation
synthesized radios in general) and I've seen a few sold at hamfests where
the sellers dismiss the problem like this seller does. Eventually the CPU
will become so bad it won't be able to tune frequencies. The problem goes
much further than being just a simple bad solder joint as he mentions.

In any case, it's his radio now and he can advertise it as he wishes. His
untruths will eventually come back to haunt him via increasing negative
feedbacks. Ebay will pull the plug once one too many complaints are filed.

How do you know that it was not fixed in the intervening period
of weeks before you sold it and he allegedly bought it? (assuming
it is the same radio) What is so wrong may I ask if someone buys
a radio someplace and makes a profit on it later? This is called
Capitolism last I checked Mike. So he's making $62 above what
you allegedly sold it for. Big frigging deal!

5 years ago I purchased a 1970 Dodge Charger for $2200.
Car needed a complete off-frame restoration as it sat in a
barn in Nebraska from 1983. Two years later and $12K
invested it's now fully restored and was recently apprased
at $24,000 - not a bad investment in time and labor eh Mike?

Tell me what's the difference if I bought a broken down radio someplace
and re-sold it for 4 times what I paid for it? Sounds good to me
and if you disagree then you can go cry about sour grapes till doomsday
for all I care......

How do you know it's the same radio? If it is the same then
what is your issue with it? You are not selling it nor are you
bidding on it. Why expend so much energy on this?

Forget it and move on and I hope you find a better deal someplace someday.

I myself found a National NCX-5 with the matching Speaker/PS at
a yard sale this past summer. Got it for $35.00 I guess some myopic
hams may be mad if I sold it on e-Bay someday for $350 eh?

Jeeze........hams are such a bunch of tightwads that
are wound up tighter than a garter snake's arsehole..... ; )

I once bought an Elvis Presley notebook for a lady friend in England.A
guy by the name of Robert in Hamilton,Ohio had them for sale for $4.50
each.It wasn't exactly like a bid auction thingy. (he had them for sale
on eBay) He had included his name and snail mail address and his email
address. If I see something on eBay I am interested in buying and if the
seller at least includes his or her email address so I can get in touch
via email,I will email the seller about whatever item or items.I have
been to two auctions before here in the Jackson area.At one of the
auctions,I bought a big bench Sears Craftsman metal lathe ($350.00) and
a big metal cutting bandsaw. ($40.00) I can't see why those sellers at
eBay dont at least include their email addresses. Is there any paticular
reason they dont? By the way,if y'all see junkinjudy at eBay,she lives
here in Jackson,Mississippi.

I'm surprised he doesn't peddle his wares at Dayton,
since he lives close enough. Some of those people
at the flea market would probably go out of their
way to find him, tho. And not to say hi to him.

Ignoring the potential for running into unhappy customers, a ham flea
market would seem to be a horrible place for him to sell.

With ebay, he controls what you see. In person, you could move that
manual or power cord to notice the scratch or missing screw it's
covering. You might notice if the tuning knob binds.

If power is available, folks could fire them up.

On a more positive note, Radio Mart reached a milestone last week - his
100th negative feedback.

Oh, and for folks who'd care to stick up for Martyn, why is it he
accepts Paypal, but his auctions aren't covered by the Paypal buyer
protection plan?
