WTOP 1500AM Leaving BCB Tonight
WTOP 1500AM Washington DCs Flagship station
is leaving the AM BCB according to their website. But not "Tonight" as you claim in the subject line. They're gonna be on AM until sometime in March, and many are critical that their plans for "Washington Post Radio" on 1500AM will pan out (although they're certainly sinking enough money AND credibility into it.) Thank heavens that WGMS is still alive and well, although where I am its signal isn't as good as it once was. So WGMS is being broadcast out of Waldorf, MD now, huh? Yes, thank goodness WGMS didn't get reformatted into some talk format show. They are the only full-time classical music station left in the D.C. metro area that I'm aware of. I can only hope the listener base is such in D.C. that they will not follow in the footsteps of so many other classical music stations. |
