You should buy a good signal generator for testing. That way you can
provide real numbers and not "sucked on every antenna". Maybe all your antennas stink? How should we, or Ten-Tec, know? |

Even a mediocre performer will outperform the PCR-1000, an unfortunate abomination made during ICOM's "I don't give a ****" period. Even I drove the 8 hours to spend a whole day with the '340 before plunking my money down. Only a damned fool drops that kind of money without taking a test drive. |

So, I guess I'm not REALLY happy with my PCR-1000?

Right, well, while you're on a roll, why don't you re-tell the tale of
your two Drake R8 receivers? John Smith wrote: So your saying the slightly under 6000$ radio from ten tec covers almost exactly the same thing as the new icom that costs around 400 $ ? No thanks....I already gotta pair of RX-340's and they aint much of a radio...my old PCR-1000 will keep up with em all the way...matter of fact my old grundig yb-400 will outdo em at times LOL! |

Oh, gawd, does his magic yacht-boy outperform the R8s, too. This
guy's a real winner. Tennessee Trash, indeed. "junius" wrote: Right, well, while you're on a roll, why don't you re-tell the tale of your two Drake R8 receivers? Judging from his troll tactics, language and a number of other factors,
it seems to be the same guy who was earlier posting under the name of "Rob". As for his YB-400, it has on occasion been the subject of ridicule (I guess these things simply depend on who he's trying to get riled up): http://groups.google.com/group/rec.r...17d19d9ad9d270 As for his two R8 receivers, they were such a "big disappointment" that after 6 months of use, he gifted them to his sons so that they could listen to their high school radio station (!): http://groups.google.com/group/rec.r...a2cb7d67d7180a As far as these things go, one can't help but to concede that the "high school radio" touch to the story was pretty original. This guy seems to have also posted under a few other names: "johnboy" and "JR" and ". While he changes names a lot, various aspects of the troll tactics remain consistent. In any case, he seems to keep himself amused. And, after all, for good or ill, usenet is basically one big zoo where anything goes... Eric F. Great. This guy is a real winner. I'm not sure if I want to call him a troll or just mind-numbingly stupid. Calling him a troll might give him "respect" (in his eyes) he doesn't deserve. -- Eric F.
