Subject: HITS OF YESTERYEAR PLAYLIST FOR 07-18-04 From: (ChrisCoaster) Date: Thu, Jul 15, 2004 11:38 AM Message-id: (stanmajor) wrote in message ... Don't know what computer's making your list but it goes for a lot of bombs in there. WATCH IT there, greenie! Let's see how you feel in 40 years when some young whippersnapper like yourself says the same thing about Usher, J-Lo, Red Hot, and 50Cent! -CC I'm no "greenie"...I was there...played the hits and a bunch on this list I've never heard of...but they got programmed into a computer by someone who's a "greenie" ! "I'm an ordinary person ...with an extraordinary job." BS from Julia Roberts 2001 _______________________________ Ohh, that's even worse. "Bomb"ing your own era? I'da loved to have grown up when you did, pal. At least you HAD real music back then where talent actually SANG. Today one doesn't even have to sing, play an instrument(computer does that for you) or know how to read music(which I don't but I'm no performer) to hit the top 10. Today's scene is about as creative as a toiletseat compared to 30, 40, 50 years ago. -CC |

No money...but fun! sm I'm no "greenie"...I was there...played the hits and a bunch on this list I've never heard of...but they got programmed into a computer by someone who's a "greenie" ! Today's scene is about as creative as a toiletseat compared to 30, 40, 50 years ago. That's exactly what my parents said 30 years ago, though. I'll say that top-40 is far more homogenized than it was when I was a kid. It used to be there were a wide variety of different musical styles all on the same chart, but now things are much more uniform. I think that's bad, and I think it bores listeners as well. BUT, I don't think anyone can claim that "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I've Got Love In My Tummy" is any better than the worst song on the charts today. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

I think at some point, everyone was so into their own format (rock, rap, alternative, etc.) that few people explore any music out of their own "ghetto". Probably has to do as much with self identity issues as it does with plain intellectual laziness... BUT, I don't think anyone can claim that "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I've Got Love In My Tummy" is any better than the worst song on the charts today. There were clinkers back then and there are clinkers now. |
