That needs to remain in place, Todd. It was put in force to prevent
amateurs from utilizing the ham bands for commercial purposes, and to prevent the amateur service from unfairly competing with commercial services. Without that rule, those providing such services would have every right to file grievances with the FCC. Also, without that rule, there would be more congestion on the ham bands. It really not the matter of removing th rule, the problem is that the vast majority of things that amateurs can do can be done through alternative radio service. As for the commercial service, the FCC and congress is giving them a HUGE chunk of spectrum of what was the old TV spectrum So I wouldn't really worry about them. Todd N9OGL |
