I can't recall any specific push that Tandy or its successors
ever made to enter the amateur radio market.
10-15 years ago Radio Shack marketed a modest line of ham radio
transcievers.
The HTX-10 and HTX-100 were small HF rigs, they sold five or six
models of VHF/UHF handhelds, and three or four VHF/UHF "base"
transceivers.
The RS HTX 252 is a nice simple and small mobile VHF rig that I like to
let the new folks use for Public service.
And their 2 meter HT's are classics. Many of our club members still use
theirs on a daily basis. They sold approximately 1 gazillion of them. ;^)
