No Amateur Radio = No MARS.

It really is THAT simple.

You have it really SO WRONG. :-)

No Department of Defense authorization for MARS means NO MARS.

MARS operates OUTSIDE of civil amateur radio bands.

MARS is NOT amateur radio.

...and that's the way it is.

Yup.

Nope.

No Amateur Radio = No MARS.

Steve,K4YZ

Maybe it should be No Amateur Radio = No MARS participation.

That's not what Steve means.

He said, "Sorry Hans, MARS IS Amateur Radio," and he meant it.

Yo Bleeper . . this thread brings up a question . . how many pieces of
MARS traffic did your morphed version of T5/NØIMD handle?

Yo spud, Amateur Radio Operators don't handle MARS traffic.

However, the Marines did have trouble getting authorized to activate
Navy MARS. So I requested that we activate an AF MARS station to
provide MWR traffic for the Marines. In the space of two dits, the
Navy authorized MARS use. An AF MARS authorization is written into
each TALCE deployment.

Best of Luck.

Tsk, tsk, tsk...without the DoD Directive there would be NO MARS!

The DoD directive ENABLES MARS.

Wow! No wonder you got put out.

Directives "enable" something or some action.

Unable to adapt to military service and unable to adapt to civilian life.

Where does that leave you?

Catch up with the definition of "morphed".

What, exactly, does that have to do with my question? I'll try again:
How many pieces of MARS traffic did you handle?

Best of Luck.

Why would you assume that there were a "morphed" version?

However, the Marines did have trouble getting authorized to activate

Tell us again how you have "real military experience" but never wore a uniform.

Handling MARS traffic might give you real military experience, but I've got plenty.

I'll try again:
How many pieces of MARS traffic did you handle?

What's it to you?

We'll never know, JJ...Lennie the Lame is the first and only
person I know of to claim that he could participate in MARS without
being a licensed Amateur.

I will preempt Brain and state OTHER than those appointed or
hired to oversee the program by DoD.

This one caveat notwithstanding, I am still awaiting Lennie'e
presentation of his Navy-Marine Corps MARS callsign and credentials of
membership.

Thankfully, I know better than to hold by breath!

The Marines had NO difficulty getting "authorized".

They had trouble getting the schedule arranged for gateways and
getting appropriate equipment to the deployed units. Callsigns and
"authorization" were already in place.

Seems the Marines have a nasty habit of carrying combat equipment
into combat areas as a first priority. MWR gear comes after that.

Best of Luck.

Back at ya!

With a DD214 that provides a nice income and the words "Honorable"
on it.

The DoD directives do indeed "enable" the MARS program. Do you
disagree? Perhaps it was a DoS directive? DoJ...?!?!

Still waiting on your "Extra Lite out of the box", Lennie...Seems
YOU are the one "unable"...

And how's that application for Navy/MC MARS coming? "Unable" to
do that too, no doubt...
