You know what it would take to make terrestrial commercial radio extinct? If XM and Sirius both had a non-pay basic tier that was commercially funded, that would pretty much do it. Nearly universal coverage, and now they have walkman-sized personal portables. That would require 'em to think in terms of long-term gain over short-term profitability.
