Default EDISON MEDIA RESEARCH STUDY ON 12-24 RADIO LISTENING SHOWS SHARP DECREASES IN TSL AND USAGE

"FOLLOW-UP EDISON MEDIA RESEARCH STUDY ON 12-24 RADIO LISTENING SHOWS
SHARP DECREASES IN TSL AND USAGE"

"A new study by Edison Media Research shows sharp declines in Time
Spent Listening (TSL), Persons Using Radio (PUR) and most importantly
attitudes about radio among the 12-to-24-age group, the listeners who
represent both terrestrial radio's future and its greatest challenge."

IBOC Crock - OK - Is this an Evolutionary Change
-or- A Revolutionary Event ?

Media Listener {Viewer} Choices :
1940s = AM Radio + Records
1950s = AM Radio + TV+ Records +Tapes
1960s = TV + AM & FM Radio + Tapes+ Records
1970s = TV + CTD + FM & AM Radio + Cassettes
1980s = CTV + TV + FM & AM Radio + Cassettes + CD + VHS
1990s = CTV + STV + TV + FM & AM Radio + VHS + CD + PC & WWW
2000s = CTV + STV + HDTV + DVD + CD + PC & WWW + Digital Media + FM,
AM, SAT & INT Radio

The Average Listener {Viewer} has more Choices and they
now 'choose' other forms of Media over the simple beginning
choices of AM Radio and Records.

The Average Listener {Viewer} starting with the 1940s and
Two Choices they now have 12+ Choices in the 2000s.

AM Radio had Half the Pie in the 1940s and can only
reasonably expect to have 1/12th of that Pie Today.

AM Radio is still around as a 'significant' Media Choice while :
Records, VHS, BetaMax, Lazar Disc, Cassetttes, 8-Track,
B&W TV, etc have all been out-moded and are gone . . .

People Still Want Something For Free -and- Free Over-the-Air Radio
Is Still A Media Choice That Many of Them Choose To Listen To.
-as- Part Of Their Daily Listening Experience.
- - - Free Over-the-Air Radio Still Remains A Single Payment
Media Choice : That Provides Endless Hours of Free Listening.

for 60 years radio has gone through an ongoing process
of evolutionary change -and- change is good ~ RHF
