Default Sony 2010 Fans?

Hello,
I bought a Sony 2010 radio years ago and i still think it is one of
the best receivers I ever owned.
Very good on SW as well as BCB . Aircraft band is the only
disapointment on this radio.
Anyone have one and still use it routinely?

The 2010 was an awesome receiver. Very sensitive, ergonomically
delightful and it handled external antennas pretty well, excluding the
static blowout problem. I thought it would always be my favorite
portable, but then I bought an Eton E1. The 2010 was the King of
Portables for ever 20 years. Now, the crown has been passed to the E1.

Mike,

You are absolutely right about the E1. Its audio quality and signal
stability are incredible. Shortwave stations broadcasting from
thousands of miles away sound like local AM banders. The E1 truly
rivals and possibly surpasses some tabletops.

Sounds like we've had a similar history. I even went the SW77 route for
awhile, was so disappointed that I almost gave up on SWL until the E1
came along, what a rig.

The SW77 was always a disappointment for me - the audio never sounded
right, the sync let go too easy and the digits on the display were too
small for me to comfortably see. Now with leaking caps, the receiver
has been retired for display only. I've already had the caps replaced
twice.

I like the audio and sync on the Grundig Sat800, but the high noise
floor caused by the large display just drowns out a lot of DX. I can
hear plenty of stations on my R75 or E1 that just aren't there when
listening to the Sat800. I also predict that most 800's will
eventually face optical encoder problems.

I played with a Palstar R30 back in 2001 that I should've held on to.

I still own two 2010's, though I don't use them much these days.
