I have a local on 610.

Is it one of those fat HD stations,
or don't you have enough selectivity
to resolve something ten kcs away?

With KOGO running its IBOC 24/7,
I'd never be able to hear it.

I have 50 kW KGO 810 about 5 miles away, grounded in the same SF Bay
mud as my own ground.

It almost pins my S-meter at minimum 40-over even attenuated, and it
takes a massive effort to hear anything 10 kHz away from it; my
MFJ-1026 works totally overtime to crush the signal even when I use
USB/LSB on narrow and passband. Even worse is another 50 kW blowtorch
just 1.5 miles away on 1100 - yecch! Not only that, but its harmonics
are potent on 2200 and 3300 (farewell, R. Cultural, Guatemala). I
wonder if the 1026 can wipe that 3300 harmonic...

East Palo Alto? Fremont? KGO looks cool on Google.

tune in sometimes, I was picking it up pretty good, with not too much
fading out and in.

When approaching SFO from the south,
isn't that KGO's stick that looks alone on an island or some kind of
sandbar?

Do they still have those oil derricks out there on that Island not far
from Oakland, oil derricks disguised to look like apartment buildings? I
saw them when I was in Oakland in January 1964.

Correct - and it really stands out over there just N. of the Dumbarton
Bridge east end. By contrast, the four towers for 1100 about 3.5
miles farther north are practically invisible owing to sun angle - but
they are there.
