Default CNN poll: Republicans don't like health care bill

Well, IMHO you are very lucky, very naive or both.

As the old saying goes: "Stuff happens".

A defective appliance (with a counterfeit UL seal), a good appliance
that legitimately fails, lightning. Or like my neighbor across the
street -- they were not at home, they had baked goods on a plastic
cutting board on the stove, the dog jumped up to try and get the food,
accidentally turned on the stove and caused severe fire damage to the
home. Furthermore, had the fire been worse than it was and had it been
windy, the flames could have jumped to the house of an innocent neighbor
next door -- who would hopefully have insurance.

There are literally a million -unforeseen- things that could happen that
are beyond -your- control. You can be the most careful person in the
world, but that won't stop a runaway car from smashing into your house
nor will it keep lightning from striking. I don't know what state you
live in, but how about tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, heavy snow that
collapses your roof? You do not have to be an "idiot" to need insurance.
Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact. You would be an idiot to think
that you -don't- need insurance, either that or be a heck of a gambler.

I never had a fire or any other disaster that was able to destroy the
homes I bought.

All that proves is that you were very lucky. For your sake, I hope your
luck continues. But I STILL think you are being incredibly naive and are
taking a big gamble.

Why I buy my houses with different criteria than you or your neighbor.

There are literally a million -unforeseen- things that could happen that

And yet I have never had a fire of any kind in my houses in over 35
years of ownership....

Don't buy at the end of a street.

Lived in several, never had lightening hit my house, it's NOT the
tallest structure around.

Been there, I bought at the top of a hill, in an area where tornadoes
typically went around. 15 years there, never had a tornado near the house.

I built the Barn and the roof was 2x6 truss.... the house was built
well enough with enough pitch.

I don't gamble, it's not very entertaining, I never bet on sports or any
game of chance.... well unless I am really really bored.

I was in an earth quake.... I was renting and happy not to own anything
in that area. I have minimal belongings so losing my "stuff" is not an
issue.

**** happens, but it usually happens to people that haven't learned
anything.

PACCAR has a new engine factory in Columbus,Mississippi.Diesel engines
for Peterbilt and Kenworth and DAF trucks.Because PACCAR wants the
PACCAR name/brand on those diesel engines.

I have home insurance too.

That B HO ButtKisser who lives catty corner across the street from
doggy's couch,,, I told him a couple of years ago one or more of those
tall trees over there are someday going to fall over on his house.I see
that those trees are leaning closer and closer and closer,,,,,, I bet he
doesn't have insurance on that house either.

About a year ago, I built a wooden fence along both sides of my yard, to
keep those B HO ButtKissers from driving and parking on my yard. That
B HO ButtKisser across the street came over here when I was building
my fence. He put his damn mitts on my fence, he said,,, The first strong
wind that comes along is going to blow that fence down!!!
2'' by 4'' wood posts I hammered into the ground with my sledge hammer
and two rows of 1'' by 6'' boards (it is all pressurized wood) I nailed
to those posts,, and he (''he'') told me, The first strong wind that
comes along is going to blow that fence down!!!

Looka here,, if those trees over there DO fall over on his house,,, do
y'all think I will care???
I WILL NOT CARE AT ALL!

Doesn't matter whether you are at the end of a street or not. I've
personally seen people running from the cops crash their cars into homes in
the middle of the street. This can happen ANYWHERE.

The tallest structure thing is a myth. It may make some degree of difference
what the height of an object is, but it's not a given. Take a golfer out on
a course that gets hit when there are tall trees nearby.

They didn't USED TO have tornados in the LA basin, either.. but recently
there have been some. In Portland, we had never had one in my lifetime until
1981, they just didn't happen there (hilly area, usually prone to strong
east or west winds), but we had one nonetheless.

Nobody is without the chance of a disaster happening to them. It's not a
safe planet. Insurance is a good idea, where possible and feasible.
